Body, Mind & Spirit working with Albuquerque Birth Network Many of you know that our little resource center (Body, Mind & Spirit Childbirth and Family Resource Center) moved from The Birth Center to The Source in January following word that The Birth Center would be closing. Happily for Albuquerque birthing families, the Birth Center has continued to function. GentleBirth is no longer located at the Birth Center, but Connie Koshewa has opened NaturalBirth in its stead. The Albuquerque Birth Network, a network of birth and parenting providers ( which includes our business, among many others), has moved into the space formerly occupied by Body, Mind & Spirit. They are specializing in prenatal yoga, with classes offered a number of times each week. Since we realized that both BMS and ABN were offering the same thing, Body, Mind & Spirit decided to no longer offer prenatal yoga classes and instead refer interested clients to the ABN offerings. We consider what we offer to be unique and particularly valuable within the Albuquerque community, and the ABN is offering an additional series of unique and high-quality classes and workshops. If you are interested in what they have to offer, please check out their calendar and website: www.albuquerquebirthnetwork.org In addition, if you find what Body, Mind & Spirit offers to be valuable to the Albuquerque community, we hope you will bring a friend to our workshops or share our newsletter with other new or expectant parents. Our small business is still adjusting to our new location, and we hope that you will all continue to frequent our workshops at The Source. Both Body, Mind & Spirit and the Albuquerque Birth Network are progressive educational forces within our community, and we are grateful for your continued support of both of these enterprises. Peace, Erika Harding (director of BMS) and Kelly Camden (director of ABN) |

SPEAK UP ABOUT NY TIMES DOULA ARTICLE! On March 2, The New York Times ran an article about doulas and lactation consultants, offering some negative perspectives. The article can currently be read here: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/03/02/fashion/02doula.html?ref=fashion Does this article speak to your experience? Does it have a leg to stand on? What SHOULD expecting parents expect from their doula? Share your opinions on our discussion board. We've created a thread just for feedback to this controversial article: |
